Daisy Thomas - smooth back hand turn - south side New Brigthon Pier.
Daisy is a hot young surfer with a big future. She has strong backhand
attack and a solid off the top snap.  Apart from racking up more than a few contest successes over the past three years in the South Island and grom circuit, she has also made a name for herself nationally and internationally.
She placed first in the Rip Curl Grom search in Wales 2003. daisy is also a top competitor in surf life saving. Some time soon the national selectors will have to take a lot more notice of this hot young prospect who lives south of the strait.

The Roxy Canterbury Womens Surf Champs hosted by Tubular Belles was run on Saturday 14th February. In clean but slow 0.7m waves at New Brighton by the pier most heats were very close. Hayley Coakes (Dunedin)edged out Leilani Brain (Christchurch)in a tight final between 1st and 2nd.

The Roxy Juniors had double finalist Kristi Zarifeh (Christchurch)fresh from her 3rd placing in a grom
final up north, take the win over Emily Nicolson (Kaiapoi).

Dakine Longboard had 1st time winner Eve Welsh (Christchurch) edge out local and tubular belle Trish O'Rourke.
